DaftarPrivacy policy
Daftar is a credit ledger app for shopkeepers. It is operated by Codelume (Elie Mattar, sole proprietor), based in Naameh, Chouf, Lebanon ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
Who this applies to
This policy covers shopkeepers who use the Daftar app ("you") and the customers whose records shopkeepers keep in it.
What we collect
- Your phone number, to sign you in. We send a one-time code by SMS to prove the number is yours.
- Your shop details: the shop's name, the currencies you use and your exchange rates.
- The records you enter: your customers' names, phone numbers if you add them, notes, and the credit and payments you record for them.
- Basic technical data our server needs to work, such as the time of each request and error logs. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To store and back up your ledger, so it is safe if you lose or change your phone, and to keep it in sync between your phones.
- To let you send your customers reminders of their balance. Reminders open WhatsApp on your phone; you choose whether to send them.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your records or your customers' records for any purpose other than running the app for you.
Where your data is kept
Your records are saved on your phone and on our server, hosted by a cloud provider we rent servers from. Sign-in codes are sent and checked by Google Firebase Authentication, which receives your phone number for that purpose (Firebase privacy information). These providers may store data outside Lebanon.
Your customers' information
As a shopkeeper, you decide what you record about your customers. Please only record what you need to keep track of credit, and tell your customers you keep their balance in Daftar if they ask. We only process these records on your behalf.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your shop and its records from our server within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer. Records on your own phone stay there until you remove the app.
Your choices
- You can view, change and correct your records in the app at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete your account and all its records, by contacting us below.
Security
Access to each shop is protected by a sign-in token tied to your phone number. Only someone signed in with your number can see your shop's records. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects it.
Children
Daftar is meant for shop owners and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
